It seems that playing the keyboard with a large body mass and extra buttons were not so much in demand among gamers – at any rate, recently appeared several models with a minimalist design. In our editorial staff have already visited SteelSeries Apex M500 and HyperX Alloy FPS, in which the body “ends” practically right outside the keyboard unit – now we will look at another model, Roccat Suora review, made in the same style.
EQUIPMENT
Roccat Suora review comes in a small box made of black hard plastic (size slightly greater than the keyboard itself), inside, it is to be expected, but the device itself can be found so thin brochure with tips on the connection.
DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS
Roccat Suora review – a full-size keyboard with the most compact body (the manufacturer calls this design “frameless”). Its dimensions (43h12.5 cm), literally a few millimeters larger keyboard unit, so that it fits without any problems in a bag or backpack of medium size – it would be useful if the user prefers to take “to leave” their own gaming peripherals.
As discussed recently HyperX Alloy FPS, this model is made in a kind of “open-frame” style.
Its base is the unusually thin as the mechanical keyboard (thickness of 1 cm at the bottom to 1.8 cm – at the top), and it is only the metal substrate and electronics, while switches caps handed “outward” and significantly rise above the base.
With this solution, the keyboard looks thinner than conventional mechanical models, and only typical high buttons do not give her to take over the membrane. If the user base slope is not enough, he may nominate additional legs, with which the upper part of the base rises to a total height of 2.5 cm from the surface of the table. It is noteworthy that the Roccat Suora rubberized two strips on the bottom and “sole” legs, so that in the “unfolded” state, she slips on the table is much smaller than in the “folded” (if you remove the legs, it will touch the table only two small plastic “cap”, no-slip).
LAYOUT FUNCTIONALITY
All we’ve seen official images of the keyboard (on the official website, in the domestic online stores, and even on the box, which came to us keyboard to charts) displayed some reason the German QWERTZ-Layout. In reality, of course, we have sold a standard QWERTY-version additionally applied in Cyrillic – and it is not located in the lower part, as usual, and in the upper right corner. Because of such a decision on some buttons characters are very close to each other, but it is possible to obtain a more or less decent backlight Cyrillic letters (LED-lamp is located at the top of the button on the switch, and the best highlights were the upper part of the cap, in while the bottom remains virtually without backlight).
Another difference from the layout shown in the official photo – a full-size Left Shift (QWERTZ in shortened version of it) and the single-row Enter (instead of the DIP in the German version). Of the extra features worth noting the layout of the volume buttons in the top right corner, Game Mode button (disables some Windows-button accidentally pressed which may interfere with gameplay), and the use of Roccat brand logo on the button “Start”.
The manufacturer claims the existence NKRO technology (N-Key Rollover) – Independent registration presses each button individually, allowing you to keep track of any number of rollovers. In our test, the keyboard is well rehearsed more than 20 presses all the buttons in any combination at a time, so that we can say with confidence that, no matter how hot was the gameplay, the player all the teams will be properly recognized.
To configure the advanced settings of the Roccat Suora review need to install proprietary utility Roccat Swarm (complete with a keyboard is not available, is available for download from the official site). With it, you can control the backlit keys, include a variety of sound effects for clicks, and reassign keys and record macros (for them are allocated 6 buttons, combined with the navigation system in the text above the arrow keys).
SWITCHES
The Roccat Suora review used a rare type of switches – TTC Brown; declared characteristics they have typical for most mechanics lifecycle of 50 million keystrokes, pressing force of 45 g, the process to operation – 2 mm, total stroke – 4 mm.
As for performance, and tactile sensations, these switches are similar to the famous Cherry MX Brown – slight press, a tangible “punching” at the time of operation and the average noise level mechanism, especially noticeable during fast typing – keyboard with sounds slightly softer mechanical printing cars, so in a quiet room, where, except for you, there are other users, it will obviously interfere with others.
BACKLIGHT
The backlight is used one color, blue color (fashionable trends in the form of RGB-lighting with rich possibilities for setting up this model is not reached). But the character of the emission can be controlled by the keyboard itself, without the need for proprietary software – available blackout lighting, 10 different degrees of intensity, and the effect of “breathing.”

CONCLUSION
Roccat Suora review – “pure” gaming mechanical keyboard, no additional “add-ons”, pretentious and unwieldy body weight of additional keys. It is the most compact, full-sized keyboard for both, with a fairly low compared with most other mechanical models – so it is quite comfortable to use and without ergonomic pads under your palms. In light switch has a “feedback”, signaling tripping, making this keyboard universal – suitable for gaming applications, and for the typing.
