Lenovo ThinkPad X260 Review

Ultrabooks – not only the image thing, but also the convenient working tool, the Lenovo believes the company, and represents a new model of Ultrabook for business – Lenovo ThinkPad X260 review.

CONTENTS OF DELIVERY

Lenovo ThinkPad X260 review  comes in a relatively small box, inside you can find yourself ultrabook, the battery charger and documentation. Sparsely, but enough to get started, and also in box in the spirit of Lenovo – similar packaging, we have seen it more than once, including even the flagship models.

DESIGN

Series ThinkPad notebooks can rightly be considered legendary, the first model in it were released in the early 90s. of the last century (then by IBM), and even 10 years ago it was bought by the Lenovo, classic design fans is not scared – laptops with a distinctive logo and the same red trekpoyntom in the center of the keyboard remains a loyal audience, not counting corporate users.
Lenovo ThinkPad X260 Review: specs and features
Lenovo ThinkPad X260 review  does not change the traditions – is a small “bar” black matte plastic with a light soft-touch coating and the ThinkPad logo (with a radiating red dot) in one corner, and the Lenovo logo is almost invisible – in the other. Although belonging to the claimed ultrabuki, at a thickness of 20.3 mm (which is 0.3 mm thicker than at Intel specifications may be such ultrabuk screen diagonal) and weighs 1.5 kg ThinkPad X260 – rather small notebook.
On the left side is a connector for power supply, ventilation grille, full-sized HDMI-out, mini-DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 ports and a slot for smart cards. On the right side you can find a headphone jack, one port USB 3.0, SD-card reader, slot for SIM-card, Kensington lock and that is somewhat unusual for ultrabook – a full port Ethernet (perhaps that he was “guilty” in a relatively great, for this category of notebooks, the thickness of the body).
Lifting the lid, the user will see the classic design of the ThinkPad – framed by the wide frame embossed matte screen, a medium-sized touchpad with three hardware buttons and a mouse with a red line, accentuating attention to them. And, of course, the legendary TrackPoint – branded flat “joystick” in the form of a red rubber “hats” in the middle of the keyboard, which is used today as an alternative to the touchpad. In addition, the right side, near the cursor arrows, is a fingerprint scanner.
The keyboard makes a good impression – buttons sit tight, do not “hang out” with respect to the course of pressing (for notebook keys), a large and well-tangible “pushing through”. There is a key illumination. size keyboard is a bit smaller than the standard, but for 12-inch laptop, it still looks pretty big – a length of about 26.5 cm (28 cm against the conventional models). Reduced as a button, and the distance between them, which will require some getting used to when typing blind.

DISPLAY

The Lenovo ThinkPad X260 review  uses a 12.5-inch display. We visited in the wording of the model with IPS-screen with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels – except for her, there is a “top-end” version – with the IPS-FullHD resolution. Thanks to a matte finish image on it practically does not suffer from parasitic glare and reflections, but there is a crystalline effect moderate severity (looks like a light graininess, especially noticeable in areas with one color fill). 1366×768 resolutions may seem little, but in a diagonal it is more than enough – pixel density (125 PPI) is about the same as that of 17-inch FullHD-display.

The maximum brightness is not too high – 250 cd / m², so the outdoors in sunny weather of this laptop will not work very convenient. IPS-screen shows the high quality picture with fairly accurate color and good saturation – though gamut could be a little bigger.

PLATFORM AND PERFORMANCE

The test sample Lenovo ThinkPad X260 review  has been installed dual-core Intel Core i5 6200U with a frequency of 2.3 GHz (2.7 GHz Turbo Boost), 4 GB of memory DDR4, integrated graphics Intel HD Graphics 520 and hybrid SSHD-drive Seagate ST500LM00 500 GB ( with 8 GB of flash memory).

As expected from such a system, results in complex benchmarks are quite high – so that performance Lenovo ThinkPad X260 will be enough for any office tasks.
From the embedded video should not expect miracles, and little in the 3DMark were not a surprise – but, in the end, require high performance in the notebook gaming-oriented business use, it is not worth it.
Using a hybrid drive SSHD (which also only 8 GB of flash memory) does the job in the system quite comfortable, but in synthetic tests the drive, of course, it shows the results of typical rather for conventional HDD, and very far from what can demonstrate «honest» SSD.

The laptop uses an active cooling system, which is in a quiet room can be heard even when running in Windows – under load it gets louder, but not very much. The stress test AIDA64 CPU warms up to 80 degrees, throttling is not turned on.

WORKING HOURS

Lenovo ThinkPad X260 review  is equipped with two battery modules – built-in and removable (the second can be replaced with “on the fly”, without turning off the laptop), both with a capacity 23 Wh.
Lenovo ThinkPad X260 Review: specs and features
Hours turned out to mean – in Work mode PCMark worked for 5 h 23 min, so that even in economy mode, with a muted brightness and by simple office tasks, it is not easy to “live” full-time away from an outlet. If the user is critical this setting, he can purchase an optional external battery (capacity of 48 Wh) – that, respectively, double the laptop battery life.
PROS: SMALL SIZE; CLASSIC DESIGN; COMFORTABLE, THOUGH SMALLER, KEYBOARD; QUALITY MATTE IPS-SCREEN; WORTHY PERFORMANCE
CONS: USING SSHD WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF FLASH MEMORY; COOLING SYSTEM IN A QUIET ROOM CAN BE HEARD EVEN AT IDLE

CONCLUSION LENOVO THINKPAD X260 REVIEW

Lenovo ThinkPad X260 review – a typical “mobile” laptop for business (after all, its called ultrabook is not entirely correct); thanks to the small size and weight, as well as a relatively small charger, it can be easy to take along on a business trip, take the weekend to work on the house, etc. Classic ThinkPad design will certainly appreciate the brand’s fans and unchanging is quite convenient alternative to the touchpad. The performance of the system will be more than enough for the intended use, but to play it in your free time, still did not work.
